We’re buying a beer for… Alexa Chung

MTV was culturally relevant. Then it wasn’t. Yesterday, when the station gave you a show, it symbolized an attempted return to the former state.
The Alexa Chung show will be Total Request Live for the hyper-texting generation. It targets kids born between 1980 and 2000 — Hey, we’re still in the demo! — which seems like an awfully large range to us. Then again, we’re not in charge. Reveille, the company responsible for bringing The Office and The Biggest Loser to the States, will produce the program that features “partnerships with social networking sites Facebook and Twitter, with audiences encouraged to tweet their reaction to celebrities and music guests.”
It sounds like we’ll need a beer to watch, but we’ll buy you one, too. Good luck. It can’t be any worse than Real World: Brooklyn. Or can it?
